Expand a CAB file using CMD

Was getting pissed off when opening a CAB file in Windows 7, coping all files then trying to paste them in explorer.  Constantly kept asking the “File Download – Security Warning”.  I wasn’t going to sit through 1829 files and click SAVE, SAVE, SAVE, SAVE.   Couldn’t get rid of the fing message.

So found Expand, built into CMD.

Go to the directory the CAB file is in.

c:\drivers\

expand E6420.cab -f:*.* c:\drivers

The last part might actually be the following. I’m leaving above in case its different.

expand E6420.cab -f:* c:\drivers

Outlook Appointments notification e-mails not appearing in inbox

http://oit2.utk.edu/helpdesk/kb/entry/366/

Any one of the following will prevent email notifications from being sent:

You have added a Delegate and selected ‘Send meeting requests and responses only to my delegates, not to me’. (e.g., Tools | Options | Delegate).
You have your calendar set to auto-accept meeting requests.
You set ‘Author’ permissions on your calendar. This allows a person to open your calendar by choosing ‘Open a Shared Calendar’ and schedule a meeting directly on your calendar. Therefore, no email notification is sent.

OR

Check the e-mail sort you may have set, that can end up putting all the calender notifications at the bottom of all your e-mails.

BitLocker requests encryption key at every boot

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-us/66b8fa61-5603-4e9b-a7de-e8226086e568/bitlocker-requests-encryption-key-at-every-boot?forum=itprovistasecurity

First disable Bitlocker (do not decrypt!!!)

2. take ownership of the TMP chip
3. reboot
4. Initialize TPM chip enter pswd on TMP chip
5. Enable Bitlocker

drive is still encrypted and your tmp chip is loaded. and won’t request keys on boot.

Boot the laptop and then enter the Bit Locker unlock code (from awdc05)

Plug the laptop into the network and then log on as your admin user

Control Panel -> Bit Locker Drive Encryption

Suspend Protection

Choose the option to suspend Protection-> Reboot

Note that you are still asked to enter the Bit Locker Code

Restart and then go into the BIOS

Security-> TPM-> Choose the option to disable-> Save then exit

Log on to Windows-> Control Panel-> Bit Locker Drive Encryption

Resume Protection

Choose the option to Resume Protection – Message: Activate TPM first

Take ownership

Launch TPM Administration -> Initiate TPM

At this point you will get a message saying that the machine will restart and then follow the instructions. (Something like press F10 to continue)

Go into the BOIS – Activate TPM

Log into Windows -> Bit Locker Drive Encryption -> Restart Protection

Logitech G430 and RealTek HD Audio

Seems to be a conflict with the USB sound card that comes with the G430. Would cause Sound in Control Panel to hang when the USB sound card was plugged in.

Eventually got it working by disabling the RealTech HD audio and rebooting. G430 works perfectly then. Re-enabled the onboard RealTech and rebooted, both seem to be still working together.
