If on a dual screen setup then check the display properties of both screens and make sure that one of them, like was on my issue because it was the projector screen, isn’t stuck on 8bit. Set it back to 32bit. 8bit will cause Office to force the basic theme/scheme on.
On backroom PC.
Check boot order of drives in bios. As way the drives are hooked up, when the bios resets to default it puts the drive that isn’t bootable first.
