Even using vsphere it just won&#8217;t login to vcenter.<\/p>\n<p>Access the VMware vCenter Server Appliance from the web client and you get in fine.<\/p>\n<p>Once in, in <strong>Summary<\/strong> you&#8217;ll see<\/p>\n<p><strong>vCenter<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Server:\u00a0 STOPPED<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Start it and it starts fine but still can&#8217;t login.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FIX<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Go to <strong>Setup Wizard<\/strong> and <strong>Launch<\/strong> to re-setup the vcenter seems to fix it. Just use default config.<br \/>\nBefore you start that you&#8217;ll want to stop the <strong>Server<\/strong> and <strong>Inventory Service<\/strong>. Also stop <strong>Log Browser<\/strong> and <strong>vsphere Auto Deploy<\/strong>. It could be just <strong>Server<\/strong> and <strong>Inventory Service<\/strong> that needs to be stopped. Anyway. If you don&#8217;t, the wizard eventually fails (as I found out) with the error:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Failed to execute &#8216;\/usr\/sbin\/vpxd_servicecfg &#8216;service&#8217; &#8216;start&#8221;:VC_CFG_RESULT=101(Error: vCenter Server failed to start.)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ESXi is up, attempt to login to vcenter and the web client appears to login but has a message displayed at top that it can&#8217;t connect to vcenter.
